Pinterest and this blog

Pinterest logoG’day,

It’s Lloyd Borrett here, Cheryl’s partner.

On Monday, 9 April 2012, we added support for Pinterest social photo sharing to this Mount Eliza Unit For Sale blog.

Pinterest is a pinboard-style social photo sharing website that allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections such as events, interests, hobbies and more. Users can browse other pinboards for inspiration, ‘re-pin’ images to their own collections and/or ‘like’ photos. (According to Experian Hitwise the Pinterest site became the 3rd largest social network in the US in March 2012, surpassing Linkedin and Tagged.)

Now this form of image sharing makes sense for an image rich web site like the Mount Eliza Unit For Sale blog. So I looked into it, created a Pinterest account – http://pinterest.com/mountelizaunit/ – and added support for Pinterest to this WordPress based web site.

Normally through the week if nothing is happening with new content, the web site gets about 5 to 10 user page views per day. As a result of starting to integrate the use Pinterest into our social media campaign, on Tuesday traffic went up to 21 views, on Wednesday to 41 views, and on Thursday came back a bit to 30 views. There’s also been a significant rise in Twitter followers as a result.

Of course, it’s too early to tell if these are the right eyeballs that will generate more interest and calls to Eview, our real estate agents. But it’ll be interesting to watch.
